September 19, 2010

On September 10, Camp Courant held its annual Buddy Bash, the organization’s largest fundraiser, at the campsite in Farmington. That evening, 250 supporters came out for fun, entertainment and great food donated by several members of the Connecticut Restaurant Association. Pictured here left to right are Rich Rosenthal, president of Max Restaurant Group and chairman of the board for the Connecticut Restaurant Association; FOX CT Reporters and event emcees Jim Altman and Laurie Perez; Rich Graziano, publisher of the Hartford Courant and general manager of FOX CT and WCCT TV; and Carl Johnson, managing partner of Blum Shapiro.

Deputy Editorial Page Editor Tom Condon (pictured at right) threw out the first pitch before the second game at the Hartford-based Friends of Vintage Base Ball held in Colt Park in August. I just had to include this picture because it’s rare that we see Tom in his baseball garb.

FOX CT Morning News Traffic Reporter and News at 4 p.m. Host Rachel Lutzker will be on hand September 20 at Chili’s in Manchester as the restaurant chain holds a fundraiser for the Hartford Distributors Memorial Fund at its locations across the state.

Also on September 20, FOX CT Sports Director Rich Coppola will play in the 16th Annual Bobby Bonds Memorial Scholarship Classic at the Country Club of Waterbury. This tour, in partnership with New Opportunities’ Scholarship Program, has raised over $650,000 for collegebound students since the late 1980’s.

“I’m still trying to grasp how a guy with 10 license suspensions on his record could legally get behind the wheel.” - From Courant Columnist Rick Green’s September 14 column titled, “How Many License Suspensions Is Too Many?”
