Hartford Courant print promotions manager Liz Misiewicz visited Shelton Intermediate School on Oct. 22 as a volunteer storyteller for the school’s “Community Read Aloud Day.” Local civic and business leaders also came out to read one of their favorite poems or excerpts from a book.



FOX 61 anchor Brent Hardin kicked off the National Down Syndrome Society’s Buddy Walk on Oct. 11 at Cheshire Academy. More than 500 people came out to walk for the cause.



FOX 61 reporter Narmeen Choudhury is pictured here with an attendee of the Community Residences Inc.’s annual Wine & Beer Tasting on Oct. 16. Choudhury emceed the event and live auction, which raised money for services for people with disabilities.




On Oct. 29, the Hartford Courant celebrated its 245th birthday with a celebration for employees that included addresses from publisher Richard Graziano and The Connecticut Historical Society’s Diana Ross McCain. The Connecticut Courant’s introductory issue was published on Oct. 29, 1764 by Thomas Green, a local printer. Today, The Courant is the nation’s oldest continuously published newspaper.
