FOX 61 reporters Laurie Perez and Jim Altman (center) hit the grand opening of Bobby Flay’s new restaurant at Mohegan Sun on November 28. Accompanying Perez was her friend Russ Rader & Altman brought along his lovely wife Rikki for an evening of tasty food and fun.

Timothy Egan (left), president of the Boston/New England Chapter of The National Association of Television Arts and Sciences is pictured here inducting our very own William Murphy, on-air promotion manager for FOX 61, into the Emmy Silver Circle, which recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to television over 25 years or more.

Rich Graziano, publisher of the Hartford Courant and general manager of FOX 61, is seen here with Attorney General Richard Blumenthal and The Hartford’s Ken Hallden at the 73rd Annual Manchester Road Race on Thanksgiving Day. FOX 61 broadcast live from the race from 9 to 11 a.m. The group wore purple shirts to represent their support for the Interval House’s Men Make A Difference, Men Against Domestic Violence campaign.

I want to remind all of our readers about our Children’s Holiday Campaign. It is a wonderful way to help our neighbors in need during these difficult times. The Children’s Holiday Campaign – a campaign of the Courant Community Fund and FOX 61 Family Fund, of the McCormick Foundation – has granted over $300,000 to local nonprofits. None of the dollars donated go to campaign expenses. The McCormick Foundation, Hartford Courant, and FOX 61 pay all administrative expenses and gifts are matched 50 cents on the dollar by the Foundation. Please donate today. You can make your gift by going to www.courant.com/chc or calling 1-800-931-5144.

“If it had happened to anyone she knew, Omilian said, Maggie would have been the one advocating in their memory. Instead, it’s up to the aunt she looked up to to honor her life by helping victims of domestic violence move on with theirs.” -- From Helen Ubinas’ Nov. 29 column titled, “Giving Meaning To Death Of Niece From Domestic Violence.”
