FOX 61 was the media sponsor of this year’s Southington Apple Harvest Festival Southington Icon singing competition. Over the six days of the festival, fans came out to watch and hear the judges’ critiques of the 12 finalists. FOX 61’s Rachel Frank, Laurie Perez, Erika Arias (pictured here on the left) and Shelly Sindland played host for the competition. Jillian Caillouette (center) of Meriden was the winner.

FOX 61 Morning News reporter Jeff Valin and anchor Sarah French anchored the station’s live coverage of the Hartford Marathon on Oct. 10 in downtown Hartford. Valin and French are pictured here showing their support for fellow FOX 61 News team runners anchor Logan Byrnes and reporter Nicole Jacobs.

On Oct. 10 at the Hartford Wolf Pack season opener, Chuck Steedman, senior vice president and general manager, Northland AEG presented a check on behalf of the Hartford Wolf Pack Community Foundation to the Courant Community Fund. Yes, that’s me accepting the check. The dollars, which are raised through the popular “Chuck-A-Puck” contests at home games, are matched 50 cents on the dollar by the McCormick Foundation and granted out to local nonprofit organizations.

Join us Mon., Oct. 26 through Wed., Oct. 28 from 6 to 9 a.m. on the FOX 61 Morning News for our first-ever Camp Courant telethon. Camp Courant said “yes” to more than 2,000 children this summer, but with cutbacks in public and corporate funding, its ability to say “yes” is being threatened. No is not an option the Hartford kids who want to attend this free and safe summer day camp where they can develop positive relationships, learn and have fun. With your help, Camp Courant can continue to say “yes” to Hartford children. Please tune in and consider donating to this very special organization.

“So wear bright colors, whistle or hum a tune and share the woods with everyone who enjoys the outdoors.” -- From Peter Marteka’s Oct. 11 column titled, “It’s Hunting Season: Wear Bright Colors.”
