On Nov. 20, FOX 61 Morning News meteorologist Joe Furey and reporter Jim Altman joined the staff at Keith Santacroce’s New Britain McDonald’s for McHappy Day – McDonald’s signature global fundraising event for children and families in need. Furey and Altman had the pleasure of serving customers at the counter and drive-thru during the lunch rush, mixing up a few orders, but having a lot of fun.

FOX 61 meteorologist Rachel Frank plays an attendee at the Connecticut International Auto Show on Nov. 7 at the Connecticut Convention Center. FOX 61 and the Hartford Courant had a family entertainment booth at the show with a Wii system for attendees to enjoy.

Recognize this face? FOX 61 graphic designer Corina Porter decided to have some fun with People Magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” issue by photo editing anchor Logan Byrnes’ face and name onto the front cover. While Byrnes was doing an entertainment segment with anchor Sarah French and traffic reporter Rachel Lutzker, the image popped up on the screen to surprise him.

Courant staff writer and columnist Peter Marteka was recently honored at the Connecticut Association of Conservation and Inland Wetlands Commissions’ annual meeting with one of its 2009 Special Recognition Awards. Marteka, an outdoor enthusiast, was recognized for his “dedicated service in the promotion of hiking and conservation in Connecticut.”

“A Big Dig project would certainly be a mistake. That’s where the other ideas come in.” -- From Rick Green’s Nov. 20 column titled, “I-84 In Hartford Needs Creativity, But Not Big Dig Kind.”
