On Aug. 11, Mohegan Sun held its Wild Wednesdays “Battle of the Bands” competition on the roof the Riverview Garage for over 2,000 excited fans. FOX CT Reporter Jim Altman (second from right) was a guest judge. He’s pictured with Ryan Gervais, Mohegan Sun director of VIP services; Diana DeGarmo, runner-up from Season 3 of American Idol (and recent star of Broadway’s “Hair”); and Dave Kendall, Mohegan Sun’s banquet manager and event emcee.



FOX CT Reporter Laurie Perez will be emceeing Community Health Network of Connecticut’s Cornell Scott Memorial Golf Tournament on August 23 at Lake of Isles at Foxwoods. This is Perez’s second year emceeing the tournament.



CT1 Media Design Director Chris Moran is seen here at the Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers concert on Aug. 17 at the Comcast Theater. Moran had front row seats at the show, which I was told was very good.



The Pilot Pen Tennis Tournament is this week at the Connecticut Tennis Center at Yale University in New Haven. Members of the FOX CT news team will be at our booth meeting and greeting the public on August 27. If you’re down at the
tournament, stop by and say hello.

On August 13, the Jonas Brothers came to Connecticut for a charity event and a concert at Comcast Theatre. FOX CT Reporter Jim Altman had the pleasure of interviewing the trio right after they beat a team of ESPN commentators 3-0 at New Britain Stadium.



FOX CT added a new broadcast to its lineup – the FOX CT News at 4 p.m. with Rachel Lutzker as host. She is joined by Anchor Brent Hardin on the news desk and Chief Meteorologist Garett Argianas. The show premiered August 23 at 4 p.m. out of Connecticut’s Newsroom.



The Hartford Courant is seeking nominations for the 12th annual Tapestry Award. Each year, the Courant recognizes an individual and an organization in Connecticut that excel in building bridges of understanding in the area of diversity and inclusion. The winners will be honored with a plaque, recognition in the Hartford Courant, and a $1,000 donation to the charity of their choice. P.C. Richard & Son held Grand Opening sales at two new stores in Connecticut — Manchester and Newington. The Hartford Courant and FOX CT advertising teams were on hand to help the electronics superstore giant celebrate on August 19.

On August 5, the Curtis D. Robinson Men’s Health Institute at Saint Francis hosted its first Annual Celebrity Golf Classic at Tunxis Plantation Country Club in Farmington. Rich Graziano, publisher of the Hartford Courant and general manager of FOX CT, is pictured here with Curtis D. Robinson. Graziano had the pleasure of playing in the tournament along with FOX CT’s Rich Coppola and Rick Hancock (not pictured).

On August 14, Deputy Editorial Page Editor Tom Condon threw out the first pitch at the Coltsville Vintage Baseball playoffs at Colt Park in Hartford.

The CT1 Media summer BBQ was a good time with Systems Analyst Mark Vereb spinning some tunes while talking with David Vega, desktop support analyst and Rich Graziano, publisher of the Hartford Courant and general manager of WTIC and WCCT-TV.



If you like local music, hopefully you caught The CT’s new show: “Chip’s Unnamed Local Band Show.” The show premiered on July 31 and re-aired on August 1. Pictured here is our very own Chip McCabe, an employee of CT1 Media and creator/producer of the show, interviewing musician Robert Johnson.



MC on The CT Lucia Nazzaro spent the afternoon of August 4 at Urban Oaks Farm in New Britain filming Junk Food Theater promos for this Sunday night’s MGM movie of the week airing on The CT.

On Monday, July 26, FOX CT held an open call for its Connecticut Idol contest at Mohegan Sun’s The Cabaret Theatre. The winner, 27 year-old Henry Smith from Ellington, advances to the regional American Idol tryouts in New Jersey for an audition with an American Idol producer on August 3. Smith is pictured here with contest host Lucia Nazarro.








The 150 Connecticut Idol hopefuls sang a cappella for one minute in front of a panel of local judges that included from left: Catherine Kalonia, director of marketing for Jorgensen Center of the Performing Arts; Julie Stapf, director of marketing and communications for Hartford Stage; Sarah French, FOX CT Morning News anchor; Trish Torello, WATR radio sales manager; Ashley Cavaliere, late night DJ from KC 101; and Michael O’Flaherty, resident music director of the Goodspeed Opera House.

On July 14,FOX CT Reporter Laurie Perez played in the ING New England Golf Classic Celebrity Pro-Am at Wintonbury Hills in Bloomfield, featuring local celebrities and Futures golf tour professionals.



The Greater Hartford Festival of Jazz took place in Hartford’s Bushnell Park July 16 through 18 and The CT was there to catch all of the great music, vendors and food booths. FOX CT and the Hartford Courant were sponsors of this event, which typically draws about 50,000 jazz fans into the city. On July 19, FOX CT Sports Anchor Rich Coppola served as the honorary co-chair and emcee for the 2010 Housing for Heroes Connecticut Golf Classic at the Brooklawn Country Club in Fairfield.



High-heeled and poised, 150 young women competed at Foxwoods Resort Casino on July 15to see if they have what it takes to be on “America’s Next Top Model.” Winner Sarah Siakie, 21, of the Bronx, N.Y., will audition with producers of America’s Next Top Model, now casting its 16th season.
